Yep, interesting title huh? Wanna read all about it? It's a true story about a Cruise Liner I was on decades ago where I met a beautiful Russian man and Opera Singer. Sadly, two weeks after my cruise ended, the ship sank in New Zealand.
You can read the whole story, including a photo of Sergey and a painting about us I just completed at this page: http://www.redbubble.com/people/tahnja/journal/9858664-the-ship-that-sank-my-dreams
A Russian TV Show called "Wait For Me" have aired Sergey's photo on live TV and I am now waiting to hear any news. If they find Sergey they want to do a whole Episode on our story....the most important thing to me though is just to find him and find out what happened to him. That will be my happy ending.

Happy New Year to all! I decided I would start the New Year with a fantastic new series.
I'm so excited to introduce my new series which has been in the planning stages for some months as I gathered inspiration and ideas together. I decided to start the new series on the first day of 2013 as I was REALLY inspired to do so.
I had a really wonderful thing happen as I was working on this first painting in my new series. I was in my studio and all I could smell were flowers the whole time I was painting. I will add that I have no flowers in my garden at present and I didn't even have the window open. It was such a lovely way for God to let me know He was blessing my new series.
The series will depict men, women holding staffs, swords, sometimes with horses, or even religious items to depict that they are Defenders of Truth. This painting is the first one in the series and I can't tell you how happy I am with the end result. In fact, so happy that my heart was beating loudly and I had tears in my eyes. That doesn't happen often! It happens when I know I've reached the emotional connection I wanted to achieve. For me, this is a beautiful and deeply religious piece but is certainly a painting that will easily capture many hearts for many reasons, not just the one I have intended for the painting.
The horse is a most magnificent Andalusian.
Painting features my signature gold paint highlights for the bridle buckles, around the edges of the bridle, horse, mane, in the fabric, along the staff and around the edges of the knight.
And I also started work on 3 more paintings for this series which I had started some time ago but now decided to work on. They will be in oil and I've already darkened my background to emphasise the symbols and meanings as well as the main figures.
These 3 paintings are meant to go together as a Triptych which I prefer to call "Trinity". They are rich in meaning and original conceptual artworks.
The meaning behind the paintings is important. They are all "Defenders of Truth"...the middle one is The Church, the girl represents the Bride of Christ as the Church, the horse is Faith and is an Akhal Teke for strength of character and a sense of fortitude. The painting on the left is "Defenders of Truth/The Ten Commandments". The painting on the right is "Defenders of Truth/The Bible". Both paintings flanking the centre piece and bowing in obedience to the Church are also important elements to the 3 complete pieces. I can't sell these off individually and risk them being separated so either someone buys the Trinity or they will be auctioned as a set.
I still have to paint the main figures but they will remain limited in colour. The symbols will be mostly gold and the ample texture will probably be slightly highlited in gold paint. If anyone would be interested in buying these paintings before I list them for auction on Ebay then do please contact me privately.
The paintings are flat board canvases and all three paintings are 12" x 16".
Hope everyone is safe and recovering from the New Years partying. I had a quiet one at home after painting all day solid...was great to get SOOOO much done.

Gosh but it was a long afternoon at the stables with the heat turned up a notch...I'm looking more and more a native Australian every day lol.
The morning was spent running around town getting supplies from numerous stores. Not just art supplies but packaging supplies as well. Rushed home to start a painting of Watermark Gypsy Cobs Stallion, The Full Monty. I've got a quick underpainting done and my impasto added for texture. Let it dry while I was at work and will finish it tonight....already wanna sleep but no time for that...work work work.
He's just on a little 8" x 8" stretched canvas. Didn't have enough time to paint something bigger but this horse's presence is so big, even on a small canvas, he is eye-catching!
The background will have some overhanging trees that will show areas of the sky peeking through so it also has areas of light and shadow on his coat.
Just love this horse!

Finished this piece today. When I stepped back and took in the overall feel of the work I was left feeling that I'd accomplished a rather beautiful work that fills me with the comfort of His strength and power.
Already listed on Ebay today 14-12-2012: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Tahnja-Original-Art-Acrylic-Painting-Lord-Jesus-Religious-Christian-Catholic/150963876972?ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1&ih=005&category=20125&cmd=ViewItem
This is an extremely powerful painting. I am just the vessel. It is not for me to do anything other than to lift the brush and let the Lord do the rest. He presents Himself in every painting differently and shares with us what He so wills. Some of my paintings are full of His love and joy, some are much more in tune with the suffering of Christ. This painting is another aspect to the Lord yet again and is so powerful in that He overcame the World. He overcame and defeated the son of Perdition and is victorious over him for all eternity. The sense of eternal power, a sense of the Risen Lord after He descended in the dead....it's all in this painting.
I don't expect this painting to be appreciated by those that prefer the softer, more subtle side of Jesus. In my paintings I do not like to depict a weak and timid Jesus. It was no weak and timid Jesus who died on the Cross and suffered for us. As much as I allow the Lord to use me as His vessel, it is more often His immense power through His suffering that I most often attune to when I paint Him and I feel this outpouring of His grace guiding my work.
I believe this painting is meant for someone out there who feels the way that I do about the Lord and knows just how much He is the Just Judge as well as the Merciful Jesus and understands and appreciates this balance.
I was led to this Scripture verse when I finished the painting....John 16:16-33
A little while, and now you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father. Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father? They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh. And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me? Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
A woman, when she is in labour, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she hath brought forth the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. So also you now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice; and your joy no man shall take from you. And in that day you shall not ask me any thing. Amen, amen I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full. These things I have spoken to you in proverbs. The hour cometh, when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will shew you plainly of the Father.
In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I will ask the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and I go to the Father. His disciples say to him: Behold, now thou speakest plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now we know that thou knowest all things, and thou needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
Jesus answered them: Do you now believe? Behold, the hour cometh, and it is now come, that you shall be scattered every man to his own, and shall leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence, I have overcome the world.
Painting features my signature gold highlights in the hair, crown and halo.
Tomorrow I'll have to paint another Gypsy horse and then I've had a request for an Angel painting for my Ebay Store so I'll work on that. And more work on my comissions when I come home from buying more supplies!

It's taken me a little time to set this site up but it's finally done.
You'll find lots of my artworks here in the Gallery, in separate albums. Artworks appear first and personal photos appear in albums at the end.
I will be posting journals on my webpage several times a week and posts will feature artworks in progress, fresh on the easel paintings I'm working on for my Ebay store and I will also share commission paintings I'm working on.
You can become a member of my site so you can interact with my journals, leave comments, make suggestions. You can discuss possible commissions and see what I'm up to.
My links page features some of the wonderful photographers I paint my works from who have generously allowed me permission to paint from their photos. Feel free to browse around and get familair with a lot of my artworks.
So to kick things off....on my easel at the moment is this gorgeous Arabian with a fire hot background. I wanted the colours to represent to heat of the Arabian temperament and the climate of the original country. The horse is white and he will have lots of blue and purple shadow area to compliment the heat of the background.
